Key Takeaways:

Educating people about their hormones

Dr. Carrie has educated individuals about hormones in a manner that is easily comprehensible. Additionally, she has sought the expertise of numerous doctors and professionals in the field to enhance their knowledge base. Currently, she is exploring alternative methods to continue their educational efforts, such as the Metabolic Mentor University talk, which serves as an ongoing source of information about hormones, including introductory topics like Hormones 101 and more specific subjects like perimenopause.

Currently, Dr. Carrie works on developing a specialized subsection dedicated to hormones, the Functional Healthcare Practitioner Program, a comprehensive training program that includes a diverse range of instructors, including trainers, coaches, dieticians, nutritionists, doctors, and chiropractors.

What is metabolic health?

Metabolic health connects to various aspects of the body's functioning, including blood sugar levels, insulin regulation, energy production, energy utilization, energy storage, and overall cellular activity. Hormones also play a vital role in governing the creation, utilization, storage, and distribution of energy. Failing to maintain good metabolic health can restrict these processes and increase the risk of chronic diseases, such as diabetes.

While diabetes often receives significant attention, it is crucial to recognize the association between metabolic health and other conditions like cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer's disease. Scientific research has identified a link between metabolic health and the development of Alzheimer's disease, suggesting that metabolic health plays a contributory role. Therefore, maintaining a healthy metabolic and endocrine system is essential for overall well-being.

Metabolic disease symptoms

Various sensations and experiences people commonly encounter have to do with metabolic health issues, such as tiredness, puffiness, swelling, and pain. They may also face appetite issues, manifesting as either a lack of hunger or an insatiable appetite. Headaches and skin problems can also arise. Our metabolic health can affect our skin, leading to issues with our skin's natural cycle, as well as cramps, premenstrual symptoms, irregular menstrual cycles, fertility challenges, and libido issues for men, including erectile dysfunction.

Unfortunately, when these symptoms persist repeatedly over an extended period of time, people assume they come as a consequence of aging or the natural outcomes of life circumstances, such as having children or managing a full-time job while raising a family. We tend to justify these experiences or accept them as normal when, in reality, we should be striving for optimal well-being and vitality.
