The Advanced Oxidative Stress test shows how much oxidative stress there is in the body and how effectively antioxidant enzymes are removing it.
It is the only test that measures % Reduced glutathione, oxidized glutathione, and total glutathione. It also measures 8-OHdG, a marker that goes up when there is damage to the mitochondria and nucleus, and F2-Isoprostane, a marker of oxidative stress that increases when there is a risk of dementia and cardiovascular disease.
Reactive oxygen species (ROS, also called free radicals) are produced by virtually every metabolic process in the body and are counterbalanced by the action of antioxidants. This test evaluates if the antioxidant status is adequate to keep up with a patient’s level of ROS.
