The MethylDetox Profile detects variants in genes involved in the methyl detoxification pathway and homocysteine metabolism. Genetic variations in this pathway can lead to a variety of chronic conditions, including cardiovascular disease and neurodegenerative disorders. A baseline homocysteine reading can be ordered as an add-on. This is the whole blood version of the test. If ordered without an Alcat or other Cell Science Systems blood test, the swab version of this test will be sent.
