About the Test

This is the serum version of the test. It is also available as a blood spot test.

What is the IgG Food Map Test?

The IgG Food Map measures antibodies to 190 common foods, including a wide range of foods, herbs, and spices common in the Western, Asian, and Mediterranean diets.

IgG food sensitivities provide a useful guide for elimination diets with clinical impact for various diseases. People may continue to eat offending foods, unaware of their potential adverse effects because symptoms associated with food sensitivities may occur hours or days after the offending food was eaten.

Which patients is the IgG Food Map Test Best Used For?

Immunoglobulin G (IgG) food testing is a useful guide for structuring elimination diets for patients with many chronic conditions and symptoms, including:

  • Asthma
  • Coughing
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Gas
  • Bloating
  • Diarrhea
  • Skin rash and itching
  • Eczema
  • Nasal congestion
  • ADHD
  • Behavioral problems
  • Depression
  • Neurological conditions
  • Forgetfulness
  • Insomnia
  • Abdominal Pain
  • Crohn’s Disease
  • Celiac disease
  • Irritable Bowel
  • Weight gain/obesity

What Does the IgG Food Map Test Measure?

While most laboratories only provide a measurement of IgG4 molecules, The Great Plains Laboratory provides a measurement of total IgG antibodies to various food-based antigens and Candida.

Antigen-specific IgG antibodies are captured on multiplexed magnetic beads, using xMAP® (Multiple Analyte Profiling) technology which provides reproducible results.

*Note: Please note that the elimination of food before sampling will reduce the ability of our laboratory to detect antibodies (allergies) to that food.

*Note: This test cannot be ordered for patients under 2 years of age.
